Job Introduction

As part of the growing Substation Design Division here at TLI Group we are seeking an Electrical Engineering Graduate to join the team based in our Dublin office. The Graduate will work under the supervision of the Senior Design Engineer and mentoring will be provided.

Main Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Working under the direction of Lead Control & Protection Consultant.
  • Drawing preparation & detailing (AutoCAD, MicroStation, EPLAN).
  • Act as supporting designer to a Senior Substation Design Engineer.
  • Preparation of material specifications and design calculations where required.
  • Provide PSDP assistance where required and with a view to eventually acting as nominated PSDP representative for TLI Group where necessary.
  • Keep up-to-date on new technologies, build techniques and design innovations to drive improvements in cost, quality and timescales.
  • Avail of on the job mentoring from more senior team members to help develop understanding of electrical design processes through on the job learning, shadowing, training courses etc.
  • Preparation of material specifications and design calculations where required.
  • On-site quality auditing and recording as-built information.
  • Show personal accountability and result oriented behaviour at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Energy Engineering (NFQ Level 8)

Desirable

  • Degree qualified Electrician
  • Master’s Degree
  • Ambition to achieve chartered status.
  • Membership of Professional Body (Engineers Ireland, CIGRE, etc)

Knowledge

  • Proficient use and knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, EPLAN, Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical engineering concepts.
  • Basic understanding of Transmission and Distribution networks in Ireland.
  • Ability to carry out new design concepts.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new design standards.
  • Practical knowledge of design and construction processes.

Skills

  • Developed client facing skills with a client orientated approach.
  • Commercially astute.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Excellent Communication, Interpersonal, Organisational & Planning Skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD.
